Dear Bloomingdale Community,
It is with great excitement and a deep sense of honor that I write to you as I join Bloomingdale School District 13. As I step into this new role, I am incredibly eager to learn about the unique traditions, rich history, and lasting legacies that you are most proud of when you think of our district.
My journey in education spans over 25 years, driven by a lifelong passion for supporting students, staff, and families. I began my career in the classroom as an elementary school teacher before transitioning to teach middle school science. From there, I stepped into leadership, serving as a building administrator at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. This gave me a firsthand understanding of the complete K-12 student experience. Eventually, I transitioned to district-level leadership, serving as a Director and Assistant Superintendent, which ultimately led to my most recent role.
For the past four years, I have served as the Superintendent for the Salem School District in Wisconsin, located just past the Illinois-Wisconsin border. Like Bloomingdale D13, Salem is a similarly sized district serving students from Early Childhood through 8th grade. During my tenure there, we successfully ran full-day Kindergarten and 4K programs for several years. I am very eager to bring those experiences and insights to D13 to help support and enhance our early childhood offerings. Additionally, my previous district successfully passed both an operational and a capital improvement referendum to maintain our strong educational programs as well as upgrade our facilities. Because of this, I deeply understand how to manage a major construction project from start to finish. I know how to navigate the unique challenges that come with older buildings, maintain a sharp focus on daily learning needs, and remain strictly mindful of taxpayer dollars.
A school district is only as strong as the people within it, and I am genuinely looking forward to working with our incredible staff. They have earned a stellar reputation for excellence and a profound love for your students and this community. Furthermore, I am honored to work alongside such a dedicated Board of Education- a team that is deeply invested in seeing this district thrive. They understand, as I do, a fundamental truth: when our schools are successful, our entire community is stronger. Finally, I am thrilled to begin this journey with the families and look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks.
