President Tamara Peterson called the special meeting of the Board of Education of Bloomingdale Elementary School District 13 to order on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Erickson School at 6:00 p.m.

Absent: Mrs. Diane Birkley, Mrs. Linda Wojcicki

Others Present: Dr. Kim Perkins, Greg Leyden, Dr. John Markgraf (6:00-6:20 p.m.), Dr. Debbie Kling (6:26-6:50 p.m.), Mark Dwyer (6:55-
7:25 p.m.)

The Board conducted its annual tour of the school facilities to review the state of the school buildings, as well as the work done over the summer as part of the district’s ongoing preventative maintenance and capital projects’ process. Particular features reviewed at Erickson School were the ceiling-mounted projectors, new ceiling tiles in hallways and classrooms, and new classroom carpeting in the primary wing. At Westfield, particular features seen were new carpeting in classrooms around the library, ceiling-mounted projectors, and parking lot repairs. At DuJardin, particular features observed were parking lot repairs, seal coating, peaceful playground painting project, kindergarten classrooms, and a special education/physical therapy classroom. The DuJardin student washrooms were also reviewed, in light of recent results from the student survey regarding washroom conditions this past year.

Mr. Leyden will begin an update of the district’s seven-year long-term maintenance plan in the second half of this school year.
