SESSION SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Monday, July28, 2003
President Donald Litchfield called the regular meeting of the Board of Education of Bloomingdale Elementary District 13 to order on Monday, July 28, 2003 in the district office at 7:35 p.m.
Present: Mrs. Patricia Bach, Mrs. Mary Ellen Johnson, Mrs. Linda Wojcicki, Dr. Donald Litchfield
Absent: Mrs. Ruth Ann Olson-Lewyckyj, Mr. Terence McKeown, Ms. Tamara Peterson
Others Present: Dr. Kim Perkins, Dr. Janice Caruso, Mrs. Kathy Ogden
A motion was made by Mrs. Wojcicki and seconded by Mrs. Bach to approve the items shown in the Consent Agenda to include the Minutes from the 7-14-03 regular and closed session meetings; Approval of Bills in the Education Fund for $100,873.67, the Operations and Maintenance Fund for $133,588.00, the Bond and Interest Fund for $300.00, the Transportation Fund for $11,267.48, Payroll (6-25-03) for $385,244.82, (7-10-03) for $290,954.35 and (7-25-03) for $275,488.74 as shown in F.D. 7/28/03-1; the Fund Balance Report as shown in F.D. 7/28/03-2; the Revenue Report as shown n F.D. 7/28/03-3; the Expenditure Report as shown in F.D. 7/28/03-4; the Activity Report as shown in F.D. 7/28/03-5; the employment of Amy Albert as a 5th grade teacher at DuJardin effective 8-25-03 for a salary of $36,990.00 and Cynthia Bringer as a LD Resource teacher at Westfield effective 8-25-03 for a salary of $38,050.00, the resignation of Lisa Greenberg, 7th grade Math teacher at Westfield effective 8-1-03, Amy Kusmierz, 8th grade Language Arts teacher at Westfield effective 8-1-03, Linda Leoni, an Inclusion Facilitator at Erickson effective 7-17-03, and a retirement date change for Dr. Janice Caruso, Assistant Superintendent, from 6-20-04 to 6-20-05.

Board Reports and Requests
Closed Session Minutes (F.D. 7/28/03-6)
A motion was made by Mrs. Johnson and seconded by Mrs. Wojcicki to keep the minutes of the existing closed sessions confidential for another six months at least as shown in F.D. 7/28/03-6. Voice Vote: all ayes
Dr. Perkins stated that notice of the August 25 public hearing regarding the FY04 final budget has been posted. He indicated that the budget prepared by Jan Prehn and Jerry Gordon looks very straightforward. However, board members should contact him with any questions.
Board Tour of Schools
Prior to the start of the September 22 meeting, the Board will take 20-minute tours of the three schools beginning at 6:15 p.m. at Erickson.
A motion was made by Mrs. Bach and seconded by Mrs. Johnson to adjourn the meeting. Voice Vote: all ayes
The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
