Welcome to Social Work at Westfield Middle School! My name is Mrs. Zagotta and my role here at Westfield is to help guide students to enhance their emotional well-being as well as their academic performance. I began working at Westfield in February of 2009. I grew up in Wheaton, IL and attended St. Mary’s University of Winona, MN for my B.A. in Psychology and Aurora University’s School of Social Work for my Masters in Social Work. Prior to working at Westfield I worked for 10 years in a therapeutic day school as their social worker. In my free time you can find me spending time with my husband and 4 children.

Social work services are available to all students at Westfield. My door is always open to everyone and students may come to see me whenever they need. Parents, teachers and administrators may also refer students. I am not only here to help our students but their families and teachers as well. A student may come to see me to work through or address coping strategies for the many stressors that a middle schooler endures. Some of those situations may include making friends, social skills, coping with divorce or death, truancy, social withdrawal, study skills, anxiety and depression.

Student groups meet once a week and are organized by grade level. The goal of these groups is to help students improve social skills, make friends and have fun getting to know other same-age peers outside of the classroom. All students are welcome to join. Please do not hesitate to call or email with any questions or concerns you may have!
