The 2011-2012 Student Council year has come to an end, with our last meeting being a Pot Luck Breakfast on Wednesday May 16th 2012. At this meeting we discussed plans for next year, said goodbye to our 8th grade members and elected the Student Council officers for the 2012-2013.
Consider such, a special congratulations goes out to the following students who will be the new Student Council officers for the 2011-2012 school year!

Westfield’s Student Council would like to say thank you to all of those who participated in the Food Drive Homeroom Collections.
Around 210 Items collected and donated to the Bloomingdale Post Office as well as the America Signs Competition to provide assistance to the rapidly increasing number of Americans who are struggling with hunger.

Monday April 30th through Friday May 11th, 2011
On Saturday, May 12th, Campbell Soup Company will join forces with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) to Stamp Out Hunger! across America in order to provide assistance to the rapidly increasing number of Americans who are struggling with hunger. Items will be donated to the ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive hosted by the Bloomingdale Post Office.
Considering such, Monday May 2nd through Friday May 8th, 2011 Student Council and Choir will be hosting a Food Drive Contest for all homerooms; 1 Character Counts Point per item.
To participate, just bring non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, individually packaged snacks, rice or cereal to your Student Council homeroom. Remember, all food items should be in non-breakable containers, such as boxes and cans! Thank you in advance for your support with this event!

Westfield’s Student Council would like to say thank you to all of those who participated in the Share Your Soles Shoe Homeroom Collection.
Over 70 shoes were collected by homerooms! Once tallied, all of the shoes were picked up, cleaned and sorted by a local Girl Scout troop which in turn donated the shoes to improvised areas of the world via the Share Your Soles Organization.

Help Westfield ‘Lace the World Together!’
Monday March 19th 2012 through Friday March 23rd 2012
For one week, Westfield homerooms will be participating in the Student Council ‘Share Your Soles Challenge’ where homerooms will collect various types of shoes for the ‘Share Your Soles’ organization which puts shoes on the soles of children and adults in the most impoverished areas of the world.
“We can’t walk in their shoes – let them walk in ours”
Share Your Soles’ mission is simple: To provide gently worn shoes to those in greatest need around the world. Donating shoes to the Share Your Soles shoe charity is a great way to recycle shoes. Share Your Soles is looking for all types of shoes, i.e. dress shoes, water shoes, boots, sandals, slippers, etc. All donated shoes must be in wearable condition. Please note however that all ‘Gym Shoes’ donated will be held onto for Westfield’s Annual Gym Shoe Rescue. Share Your Soles is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3). On Friday February 24th 2012, Westfield will be having a Hat Spirit Day. Individuals should wear any a hat of their choosing in order to earn their homeroom Character Counts points!
Remember to also wear it to the Basketball Brawl later that night to show Westfield Spirit!

It’s that time of year again! Westfield’s student council will be hosting the annual staff vs. student “Basketball Brawl”.
The “Basketball Brawl” will be held on Friday, February 24th 2012 in Westfield’s old gym. Doors open at 6:00pm; the game will start at 6:30pm. There will also be a donation bake sale throughout the game in the commons area and a raffle at halftime.
Tickets and T-Shirts are advance sale only and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. The cost per ticket is $5.00 for bleacher seats and $10.00 for VIP court side seats. Remember, no tickets will be sold at the door as we predict we will sell out! To purchase tickets or T-shirts, please contact Ms. Matt by calling 630-529-6211 or by email. Tickets and T-shirts will also be sold during social time, February 15th thru February 24th 2012.

This year’s winter dance theme is ‘Black and White Movie Night’ . The Dance is Friday February 10th 2012 from 7:00pm till 9:00pm in the old gym/commons and costs $5.00 per student.
