You may have as many books as you would like checked out at any time.
If you can prove that you are responsible by turning in books in time or paying
fines quickly, there will be no problems.
Most materials are checked out for two weeks with a two day grace period.
Certain items are shorter, such as new and in demand books, reference books, and
a few others. You will be informed at the time of check out, if your book
falls under one of these categories.
Fines for overdue items are 5 cents a day per item.
No, if you have an overdue book, you may not check out another book.
You may however check out another book when you have a fine.
Bring your material back on the day you return to school and speak to Mrs.
Siegert about your absence. Your fines will be forgiven.
When you check out material, the date due is stamped on the slip inside the
item. It's a good idea to write those dates down in your agenda so that
you remember to return material on time.
If you want the book, but it is checked out, put it on hold. If you
want a book that we do not have here in the library, make sure to tell Mrs. Siegert ASAP about this book. There is a
form you can fill out at the circulation desk, you can email Mrs. Siegert at
msiegert@sd13.org,
or you can talk to Mrs. Siegert in the IMC.
The first thing you need to do is go to the IMC computers and look in the library
catalog. If you don't know how to do this, ask for help. If
you have done this and you still can't find your way around, ask for help.
Students who help in the IMC are library helpers. They are specially
trained for this job and they commit for two days a week during their social
time. If you are interested, talk to Mrs. Siegert about how you can become
a library helper.
You can borrow a Flip video camera or a digital camera during the class
period anytime. However, to take it home you do need parent permission.
You can get the parent permission slips here on the OWL page.
These books are locked up because they are considered books with mature
content level that are usually recommended for grades 8 and above. This does not mean that 6th or
7th graders could not read these books. They can with parent permission.
If you are in 6th or 7th grade and you would like to read one of these books, you can get the parent permission
slips here on the OWL page.
LTC stands for Library Tech Club. This club works on things in the
library and most things are using technology. Creating book trailers,
mini-movies, and decorating bulletin boards are just a few of the things we do
in LTC. If you are interested, pick up an application in the IMC at the
circulation desk. You can also email Mrs. Siegert at
msiegert@sd13.org,
or you can talk to Mrs. Siegert in the IMC.
