How long should my child spend on his/her homework?

  • 10-15 minutes every night

If my child doesn't understand his/her homework, should I do it for him/her?

  • Please don't do the work.  Help guide him/her in completing his/her assignments. Look over homework to see if it was completed neatly.

Where and when should my child do the homework?

  • Set up a special place and time where homework should be done.  Have paper, pencils, crayons, and glue available if needed.  Make sure it is quiet and well lighted.

What should I do with completed homework?

  • Your child will come home everyday with a Take Home Folder.  Please check that folder daily.  Any homework should be put back into the folder and sent back to school the next day.

Homework Guidelines

  •  Make it clear that you think homework is important.

  •  Ask your child to explain the homework to you.

  • Praise your child's efforts when the homework is done well.

  • Please inform me if difficulties were experienced during the completion of assigned homework as further instruction may be warranted.

  • Notify me if your child frequently spends more time then 15 minutes completing homework.

  • Make arrangements to secure assignments when your child is absent for at least  three consecutive days by calling the school office by 8:00 on the second day of absence.  Assignments will be ready to be picked up by 3:30.

  • Notify the teacher and the school office when a family vacation occurs during the school year.  Assignments will be given upon their return.
