All About Miss Becker

Hi My name is Miriam Becker.

This is my 24th year at DuJardin School. I enjoy working with children facilitating them in the learning process.  I have also discovered through the years that they also have a great deal to teach me in return.
Teaching is my greatest passion!
It is far more than a "job" to me.
It's my life!

My goal is for each child to feel happy, comfortable, and safe at school while receiving a good solid educational foundation.  I also want children to know how special they are and that they have talents to share with the world to make it a better happier place.

Considering I believe that children learn best by doing, I have developed a hands on approach to learning.  Children will be actively engaged in in the learning process through out their school day.

My classroom is truly one of the most special places in the world I enjoy spending time.  It is a place I am proud of, a place I love going to each day, a place I am happy and feel energetic, a place I can be creative, a place I can share myself and my world with others.
I invite you to be a part of this special world
with us throughout the school year as well.

Some of my favorite activities are: reading, traveling, jet skiing, kayaking, skydiving, cooking, baking, spending time with family and friends, letterboxing, working out, going to festivals and carnivals, attending plays, shopping for arts and crafts or clothing, creating arts and crafts, playing around on the computer, making candy wrappers for special occasions and businesses, dancing, and face painting.

Speaking of favorite things I enjoy doing, I mentioned Letterboxing.  Below is a link for you to learn more about letterboxing and perhaps get involved as I am.  I have hidden two letterboxes.  One is hiding in Roselle and the other near me in Schaumburg.  For this special treasure hunt I go by the name of Lavender.  A few of the letterboxes I have hidden are called, Healing Hands, The Character Carousel, Watch Out: Curves Ahead, Squirreling around, and DuJardin School You Brighton My Day.  I have shared a little about this special hobby with the kids in class.  They seem eager to have an opportunity to try it.  So, go on, check it out....have fun!!  Make sure you take time to read the story and explore games they have set up at the site.

Below are some pictures I would like to share of me as a child...I hope you enjoy having the opportunity to learn more about me in this special photographic way.  As you can see, I am still the same in many ways as an adult of 47 today.

I have always loved choosing a good book to read! Although, these look a little difficult...not quite at my level...ha ha

I still LOVE to read...especially while lounging on the beach of an exotic tropical location.

While growing up, I always had a stuffed animal in my hands.  I just love all the teddie bears in the Library!

I have a special room for my nieces and nephew when they visit for the night...it is FILLED with stuffed animals...anywhere from monkeys to penguins.
