What's New in Reading?
We're still working on summarizing informational text. Summarizing is the process of determining important information and identifying the central theme or idea. We're learning useful strategies that will help us summarize effectively. Hopefully, these strategies will prove useful as your child encounters longer and more difficult textbooks in the grades ahead. Our goal is to read with greater comprehension and retention of the text. Ask your child to tell you about using Repeated Words to summarize.
