For Science We are working in the Harcourt/Brace series.  Our first unit is about Our Senses.  We will follow with a unit on Health and then Body Systems.  We will discuss the Skeletal, Circulatory, Digestive, Muscular and Nervous systems. Our work will be kept in our Portfolios. Next, we will work on Weather, Seasons and Objects in the Sky. Children will be introduced to Sammy's Science House on the computer.  You can also try...  http://eo.ucar.edu/webweather/  Following that, we will do our unit on Investigating MATTER.  Lastly, we will work on Plants and Animals All Around.

For Social Studies, we will introduce your children to the following pillars of our CHARACTER COUNTS:  Trustworthiness and RESPECT,  RESPONSIBILITY, FAIRNESS, CARING and lastly, CITIZENSHIP.

We will begin working in Unit 1: Families. We will use a variety of graphic organizers and save our work in our portfolios to share later.  We will follow with Unit 5: Americans Long Ago.   We will learn about Columbus, Native Americans, Pilgrims, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Martin Luther King, Jr., Susan B. Anthony, Sam Houston and Sacajawea.  Again, our work samples are housed in a special folder for our portfolios.  All will be shared in May.   Next, we'll do Unit 2: Geography.  We will learn about the land, working with, and making maps.  Later we will learn about Citizenship. Our final unit in the spring, will be Unit 4: All Kinds of Jobs.
