It is hard to imagine that I have started my 6th year at Westfield. We have made remarkable strides in our efforts to impact student’s achievement for our entire student body. Transformational changes have emerged as we continue to work not only in grade level teams but also between grade levels using  “vertical” conversations about how we can impact student achievement .

Now, 6 years later, Westfield staff have also included students in being held responsible for their continuous growth and academic improvement. This fall, as in last fall, teachers will continue M.A.P. Goal Setting with your student revisiting areas of weakness during the school year. Our teachers will continue to use a goal setting process with steps to make students more aware of their impact on the testing process and hold them accountable for their learning and performance. We will continue to involve staff, administration, and parents in the improvement process while increasing student awareness of their own learning and growth. Make sure to ask your student how they did on their tests. It is only when we continue these important conversations at home do kids become aware of how important it is to you!
