The Bloomingdale School District 13 website has been established to publish
information related to the District curriculum, policies and activities. The
content on the District web pages must serve educational purposes consistent
with the District 13 mission.
Website Content
- Material published on the District website must comply with all Board of
Education policies, the District Technology Use Guidelines, and these Web
Publishing Guidelines.
- All text and images must be free of abusive, obscene, slanderous, incorrect
or misleading information.
- Web pages should not be used to advertise goods or services that are not
sponsored by District 13.
- Information and graphics posted on the District website must be used in
compliance with all laws related to copyright and intellectual property rights.
Keep in mind that the Fair Use guidelines that allow materials to be used
in the classroom generally do not apply to information published on the Internet.
- Material contained on external web pages that are accessed through links
from the District website must meet the content standards described above.
Student Privacy and Safety
- Student information published on the District 13 website must comply with
District 13 policies on data privacy and the public use of student records.
- District web pages must not contain or be linked to students' personal
addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses or family information.
- Student photos may appear on the District 13 website only if parental permission
is granted. (Please check with the school secretaries before posting student
pictures on the website.) Student names may not be displayed in conjunction
with student photos.
- Student last names should not be used on web pages.
Web Page Standards
The District 13 website has become an important means of communication for staff,
parents and the community. Material published on the website reflects the District
as a whole, and every effort should be made to ensure that web pages meet standards
of high quality in both content and presentation.
- Web pages should be free of spelling and grammatical errors.
- Time-sensitive information should be kept current. Web pages that contain
outdated information (more than 30 days past an event or timeline) can be
removed by the Webmaster.
- Web pages should be checked regularly to ensure that all links are active.
- Web pages should be clear, concise and easy to navigate.
Additional Procedures
As new technologies become available, it may be necessary for the Superintendent
to establish additional web page requirements or procedures.
