Using Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word

Headers and footers are used when you want the same text or graphic to appear at the top and/or the bottom of every page of the document. Usually headers and footers contain information about the document such as title, student, author, date, chapter, or page number. Headers and footers do not appear as part of the normal document text on the screen, but print out normally on every page. To enter text or objects into a header or footer, open the View menu and choose Header and Footer. The Header and Footer toolbar will appear, and the body of your document will appear gray.
