| Learning opportunities
have been developed to provide differentiated programming for our
gifted and talented students. One of the goals of this program is
to enrich the learning experience for students who demonstrate excellent
academic performance in reading and mathematics.
The State of Illinois requires that both subjective and objective
measures be used in the selection of individuals for gifted and
talented programs. Identification for participation in this program
is based on scores from teacher identification checklists, mathematics
and reading scores on achievement tests, classroom performance throughout
the year, and cognitive abilities test results. Selection for the
accelerated enrichment program is subject-specific to reading and
mathematics. Students are reviewed annually for program participation
and/or continuation. Transfer students are evaluated on comparable
data.

Assistant Superintendent for Learning, at (630) 893-9590.
