Accelerated Reader®

Accelerated Reader® is a reading incentive program at Erickson Elementary School. Students in 2nd - 5th grade are able to check-out AR books from the library, read the book, and take an AR test on the book (AR Test is taken online). The multiple-choice AR tests measure student comprehension. Points are awarded based on the length and difficulty of the story. *First Grade students start the AR Program after Winter Break.

WEEKLY AR TROPHY: There are two traveling AR Trophies that are awarded to the classes that earn the most AR Points or pass the most AR Tests. The AR Trophies are awarded to the winning class each Friday. The winning classes are also recognized for their achievement during morning announcements.

AR BULLETIN BOARD: Students are recognized on morning announcements and have their picture taken for the AR Bulletin Board when they earn 50 AR Points and 100 AR Points. Students also receive an AR Button.

AR NIGHT OUT: 2nd grade students who earn 25 AR points and 3rd - 5th grade students who earn 50 AR points by the middle of January are invited to AR Night Out. AR Night Out is a fun event where students: bowl for books, enjoy pizza, participate in a scavenger hunt, & read silently.
