Why do I want to join Accelerated Reader?
It is FUN! You read lots of cool books and you get prizes for all the points you earn. Every month you can redeem your points by shopping at the AR store!  50 points: You are invited to Accelerated Reader NIGHT OUT! 100 points: You may attend a special field trip in the spring.  

How many points is this book worth and is the book at my reading level?
Each AR book has a colored sticker on the top of the spine indicating the reading level. Orange = 1st and 2nd grade reading level. Blue = 3rd and 4th grade reading level. Green sticker = 5th and 6th reading level. Clear (or white) = 7th grade and up.

RL = Reading Level.  This AR book is a 2nd grade reading level. 

PTS = Number of points the book is worth for AR.  This AR book is worth 1 point. 

How many tests can I take?
You can take a test in the computer lab every day during lunch/recess and one test in the classroom during your free time. That means you can take a total of TWO tests a day!

How can I find books that are AR at the public library?
Bloomingdale Public Library and Roselle Public Library has a AR list by title and author. You may also look online to see if a certain book is AR by going to the web page: http://www.sd13.org clicking Erickson Elementary School click Accelerated Reader button on the left.  


Why aren’t all the books AR? 
If we don’t have a test for the book, you can always make the book AR by creating a test and submitting it to Mrs. Niemiec.
