Pertussis vaccine and is to be given regardless of the interval
since the last DTap, Dt or Td dose. This change was made to comply
with the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization
Practices and became effective 9/27/2011. Please ensure that your
student receives this immunization prior to the first day
of school, Wednesday August 15, 2012. If you have questions,
please contact the district nurse, Michelle Lents, RN, CSN at 630-529-6211.

Achievement Report
DuJardin Student-Created Videos -
In Mrs. Mirante's science class, the 5th grade students were studying
the respiratory, digestive, nervous, skeletal and muscular systems.
In addition to studying the systems in class the students utilized
interactive websites in the IMC, prepared by Mrs. Schmuldt, to enhance
their understanding of these systems. Students were also given a
hands-on presentation by Dr. Hassaballa on the negative effects
that drugs, alcohol and over/under eating have on the body systems.
As a culminating activity, students used the flip cameras to film
commercials on all the information they had learned about their
body systems. The students were expected to create their own scripts,
props and costumes. Overall, the students did a wonderful job and
learned an abundance of information! Click

District 13’s Virtual Backpack -
School District 13 is using a Virtual Backpack for distributing
information to parents. The Virtual Backpack is helping us “go
green” by allowing approved non-profit community organizations
to post flyers online instead of making and distributing hundreds
of paper copies. Doing so will also save the district and community
members a tremendous amount of time and money.
Beginning in January 2010, you will be able to access the “Virtual
Backpack” link located on the District website and view materials
appropriate to your child listed by school and grade level. We hope
you find this tool helpful!

We welcome your feedback on this new web site feature. Send your
comments to DashboardFeedback@sd13.org.

at 4:35, at DuJardin at 4:50, and at Westfield at 5:05. This one
bus covers most of the district bus territory, makes fewer stops,
and can take an hour or more to complete its run, depending on the
number of students. The late bus service is only available for regular
